On a recent visit to the Chiltern Open Air Museum, located at Chalfont St. Giles in Buckinghamshire, I came across the Arborfield Barn which originally stood on Carters Hill Farm in Arborfield.  It is thought to date from around the 16th Century. At one time it belonged to the National Institute for Research in Dairying but in 1977 was condemned as unsafe. It was dismantled and moved to the museum and during 1979/80 was repaired and reassembled on site.

The story of the reconstruction can be read from this pdf file
