ARBORFIELD - Friday 18th to Sunday 20th June 2004
  inclusive

  The
following ditty, sung to the tune “Widdecombe Fair”,
  contributed by Dave PERROTT (49B)

“Last weekend I attended the final re-union in the existing
format. I met up with Max, Pete, Dick, John, Frank. We had a very good time
together. The accommodation arrangements were much better; the company was as
ever with non-stop banter. Gordon Bonner as you probably know was unable to
attend, but I gather he is a bit better now and back home for a brief
interlude before an op. But back to the re-union. All aspects of the
organisation were great - I am delighted that I attended. I scribbled a few
lines of doggerel for your perusal, fairly obviously
“Widdecombe Fair” is the tune if you feel
sufficiently moved to sing it. The Forty-Niner is
most pertinent to those who lived through it. However I expect you can imagine
what was going on and hopefully get a laugh out of it. Even if at my expense.
  Dave.”

  THE RE-UNION  04

  As I drove
along to the AOBA - all along, down along, Arborfield way -
I was wondering what words I’d be finding to say
  To Frank
Weller, John Cassells, Pete Henry, Dick Wright, Old
  Uncle Max Warwick and all.
Old Uncle Max Warwick and all.

‘Twas the final event in the present format - all along,
  down along, Arborfield way -
It’s the place for every Old Boy to be at,
  Said Frank
Weller, John Cassells, Pete Henry, Dick Wright,
Dave Perrott, Old Uncle Max Warwick and all.
Old Uncle Max Warwick and all.

  The AGM was an
important call - all along, down along, Arborfield way -
To discuss what the future might hold for us all,
  Said The
Chairman, The Treasurer, The Editor, The Committee, Old Uncle Bill Cleasby and all.
Old Uncle Bill Cleasby and all.

  The RSM said
the parade was just grand - all along, down along, out on the Square -
We were very impressed with the bugler and band,
  Said Frank
Weller, John Cassells, Pete Henry, Dick Wright,
Dave Perrott, Old Uncle Max Warwick and all.
Old Uncle Max Warwick and all.

  Ten thousand
years service was there to behold - all along, down along, out on the Square
  -
Five thousand were jankers but nobody
  told
  The Officers,
The RSM, The CSMs, the Adoring Viewers and all.
  The Adoring Viewers and all.

  Someone was
missing, our mate Gordon Bonner - all along, down along, somewhere in Leeds -
But a sizeable toast was drunk in his honour
  By Frank
Weller, John Cassells, Pete Henry, Dick Wright,
Dave Perrott, Old Uncle Max Warwick and all.
Old Uncle Max Warwick and all.

  What will the
future hold for us all - all along, down along, Arborfield way?
Instead of a balls-up, an annual ball,
  Said The
Chairman, The Treasurer, The Editor, The Committee, Old Uncle Bill Cleasby and all.
Old Uncle Bill Cleasby and all.

  Our thanks for
a truly delightful event - all along, down along, Arborfield way -
Your care and attention was a hundred percent,
Said Frank Weller, John Cassells, Pete
Henry, Dick Wright, Dave Perrott, Old Uncle Max
Warwick and all the Old Boys.
Old Uncle Max Warwick and all.

  Next year in
the silence when everyone’s gone - all along, down along, out on the Square -
Will the ghosts of parades past still linger on?
  Said the CO,
The RSM, The Committee, Old Uncle Bill Cleasby and
  all the Old Boys.
Old Uncle Bill Cleasby and all.
