Day Six – “The Chocolate Cottage”

Friday 22nd October

A change in the weather produced the first typical Queensland day for our visitors who awoke to a clear sky devoid of cloud and the blinding sunshine promising a very hot day. The first item on the agenda was grocery shopping, a must under the circumstances, and then having deposited it at home and placed the perishables in the fridge or freezer we drove out along the Cabarlah road to “The Chocolate Cottage”, a quaint establishment embodying a café, large garden where one can sit and take refreshment, and several shops selling bric-a-brac and souvenirs.

Being the eve of departure we spent the last hours of the day at home – Len and Brenda did as much of the packing as possible in preparation for the morrow.

Day Seven - Departure

Saturday 23rd October

Having to be at Brisbane Airport three hours prior to the time of departure necessitated a very early start to the day. We rose at 5 am, had a staggered breakfast, and with the final packing done Len and Brenda departed promptly as planned at 6.30 am. Shortly after their departure we received a ‘phone call from Brenda enquiring: “Have you forgotten anything?” and I immediately recalled having left my Disabled Parking Permit attached to the inside of the car windscreen.
