On my visit to the memorial I
was delighted to meet and shake the hand of Les Spence, seen below, who is an
Arborfield Old Boy of the 1939 October intake and was visiting with his
son. We had a gentle swinging of the
lamp and I left him the details of this web site with the hope that he will
be able to add some of his recollections of Arborfield life in those very
