More of Sabratha in colour. (A selection from a box of slides, by David Croton (R.E.M.E.), unseen for more than 59 years).

The view on the approach to Sabratha.

The Theatre backdrop.

Columns from the various temples on site.

Un-named visitors with a local Roman Dog of War.

A mosaic floor left in situ.

The scale of this site can be guaged by comparing the figure in the centre aisle, and the group seated on the wall in the top right hand corner, to the grandeur of all the columns.

The Museum building at Sabratha.

The courtyard of the museum at Sabratha.

Sabratha was located on the coast.  Many superb sandy beaches but also very rugged in places.

The church in Sabratha village.

Mavis and Trevor (The Editor).  The clues are there which enable us to date the photo in the winter, early 1959.  Jacket and cardigan necessary to counter the drop in temperature and the cool breeze coming in from the sea.

Our very good friend, David Croton, who made these colour slides available to us.
