IN MEMORIAM

Anthony  Tony Curly HOARE

Died 21st July 2008

AAS Arborfield Intake 47B

At the Tels Tiffy Reunion

2004

I have just had news that A.M.E. HOARE (Known as Tony or Curly) 47B died a few days ago. I don't know any more details, but will try to find out.

It must have been sudden as he was booked into the AOB Reunion this coming weekend.

Jim BAULF (49A).

I have had some more details on the death of Tony (Curly) HOARE (47B)

On 21st July Tony's ex-wife Joan died in hospital. Their son, Richard went to tell his father and found him dead at home. They had apparently died within a few hours of each other.

His ex-wife had suffered from cancer of the lungs for some time, and her death was expected. Tony had died of a massive cerebral haemorrhage.

Both have been cremated today, the 9th of August 2008, after a joint funeral service, and will be buried at Aldershot Military Cemetery.

Jim BAULF (49A) (A friend of his for 58 years)

I am indeed sorry to hear of Tony Hoare’s death as I think I remember him as he was my intake and I remember him when we were `Jeeps` together. He went to `A` Coy and I went to `B` Coy and we hardly saw each other after that.

My deepest condolences are offered to the relatives of Tony who I remember as a `Very nice chap` and a credit to Arborfield. May he R.I.P.

Cliff CHARLESWORTH (47B)

Maggie and I extend our deepest sympathies to the Hoare family, because to lose both parents in such a fashion and so close in time must have been devastating. God does indeed move in mysterious ways.

Thanks to Jim Baulf for his posting of the news, so that we can all salute and acknowledge the passing of another good man and true.

Greg PECK (53B)

How devastating for a family to lose both parents so close together, it must have been very, very traumatic for all, especially poor Tony, going to inform his father and facing the second passing. Susan {my wife} and I send our prayers and condolences, and may they Rest In Peace.

John GODDARD (55B)

May their God take them both into his care and keeping and comfort the members of their family during these darkest of days for them all.

Trevor STUBBERFIELD (52A)

FRIENDSHIP

Fame is a food that dead men eat,

I have no stomach for such meat.

In little light and narrow room,

They eat it in the silent tomb,

With no kind voice of comrade near,

To bid the banquet be of cheer.

But Friendship is a nobler thing,

Of Friendship it is good to sing.

For truly, when a man shall end,

He lives in memory of his friend,

Who doth his better part recall,

And of his faults make funeral.
