Mémoire - George A. MILLIE
Comments – Gerry ‘Greg’ Peck
My most fulsome congratulations mate! You have performed
a most worthy deed in setting out what will stand as the definitive portrayal
of life in an Army
Apprentice School.
In my own humble attempt, I brushed lightly over the subject; your superb
effort is like the Bayeux Tapestry, full of detail, rich in vivid colour and
historically flawless! I stand in awe of your memory and fine attention to
detail, I really do! Reading it, I could "smell the polish" and
"hear the clatter of steel shod boots". HQ Company sprang to life
once again and the real, undiluted "atmosphere" of AAS Arborfield
leapt out at me, uncanny! In a word … superlative!
