CAMP HALL CINEMA

Army Apprentices School, Arborfield

Contributed by Ron MARKS (49B)

“Some time ago, when I met Max (Warwick), I mentioned that I had noted down the titles of some of the films that were shown in the Camp Hall while we were at Arborfield. This was a pretty useless activity but one that I had begun a couple of years before joining the Army (I didn’t keep it up after leaving Arborfield). I did not begin noting the films at Arborfield until the first Christmas when we were coming to the end of our time in HQ Company.

I do not remember much about the films, but I do remember that one could feel a little bit down sometimes when the film finished and one made one’s way back to the barrack room on a miserable winter night. No doubt we all remember being Duty Company sometimes and having to stay to put the chairs away.

Some of the ‘Old Boys’ might like to be reminded of when and what they saw and I will continue listing them.”
