For the second time the annual A.O.B.A. Reunion took place at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire. Last year the occasion was voted a resounding success so all hopes were high for a repeat performance. That these reunions take place at all is down to the hard work of our committee of volunteers, who put in many hours and much effort. A sincere vote of thanks to them.

Unfortunately, my visit was somewhat curtailed by unfair wear and tear. Max Warwick 49B also missed the two evening gatherings and so this year we do not have much to remember events by. If anybody would like to contribute photos of the evening gatherings with some information, please contact

Friday, the gathering in.

The accommodation this year was once again at the Barcelo Hinckley Island 4 star hotel in Leicestershire. Unfortunately, Friday was one of the hottest days of the year so far and it did not bode well for the events planned for the following day, Parade and Drum Head Service. Until the trees planted throughout the Arboretum develop a canopy, Alrewas is notoriously short of shelter from downpour or, in this case, burning sun. Twenty years on should see a marked improvement.
